
The # 1 drug of choice for youth in AZ is alcohol. The 2008 Arizona Youth Survey reports that 28% of 8th graders in Maricopa County stated that they had ridden in a vehicle by someone who had been drinking alcohol in the past 30 days.
You don’t have to drink to be the life of the party. Beer is a depressant which can make you sad and slow you down. Depending on how much you drink it can make you act crazy.

Adults are usually the last to know about a problem faced by a teenager. Teens are more likely to speak with other teens when experiencing a problem. Teen Lifeline is a telephone hotline staffed by trained Peer Counselors. The hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; with Peer Counseling available 3pm to 9pm daily. Since 1986, Teen Lifeline has responded to youth in Arizona experiencing a variety of problems including: relationships, suicide, family communication, pregnancy, school pressures and substance abuse.
